Hills of Montana with three people riding horses.

Welcome to our blog.

Welcome to Cowboy Country Art’s Blog!

First of all we’d better introduce ourselves. My name is Joy and along with my husband Doug we run our own business, Cowboy Country Art, in the beautiful state of Montana. We have six horses and two dogs and pretty much everything we do involves them.

Our products are made using wood gathered from local ranches in our area. We bring a new meaning to horsepower, well actually it’s the original meaning, as we use our horses to bring the wood out of the mountains. We ride into remote areas of ranches and collect our wood which we then bring out on pack horses. So far we have neglected to take cameras with us into the mountains when we work – frankly the sight of a camera puts both of us in hiding! – but this year we are going to cowboy up to the task and bring you behind the scenes to see what we get up to both with our horses at work and also to enjoy the scenery we are so fortunate to be able to ride in. Wildlife viewings are pretty spectacular at times so watch out for herds of wild elk and the odd bear encounter along the way!

Ring Box with Wolf Artwork

As well as sharing with you our part of Montana we’ll also use this blog to showcase our latest work. Progress reports of artwork and glimpses of life in the workshop along with finished items will give you a feel of what goes into our handmade work.

So if you like the countryside and wildlife and you don’t mind some horse and dog hair along the way, welcome aboard! Saddle up and enjoy the ride!
